Weather permitting, most of the wine tours include a stroll through a vineyard where you will learn about the significance of the different AVA’s, (American Viticulture Area) soils, root stocks, grafting techniques, clone selections, canopy managements and the array of winemaking variables used today in making these world class wines.

It depends on what you’re after. Our Wine Country Tour is the classic full-day group experience, the Private Wine Tour is fully customized to your group, the Waterfalls & Wine Tour pairs Columbia Gorge waterfalls with Hood River wineries, and the Self-Guided Tour is for travelers who want to drive themselves on a planned route.
For most visitors, yes — a guided tour saves you from planning logistics, driving between wineries, and guessing which spots are worth your time. You get local knowledge, door-to-door pickup, and a curated day instead of researching it all yourself.
Pinot Noir. The Willamette Valley is considered one of the world’s premier Pinot Noir regions, thanks to its cool climate and volcanic soils, though the area also produces excellent Chardonnay and Riesling.
Comfortable, casual clothing works best — jeans are totally fine. Layers are smart since weather can shift through the day, and comfortable shoes help if your tour includes any walking through vineyards.
Gratuity for your guide isn’t included in the tour price but is always appreciated. Many guests tip in the range of 15–20% of the tour cost, similar to other guided experiences, though it’s entirely at your discretion.
You don’t need any wine knowledge to enjoy a tour — our guides are there to teach as you go, whether you’re a total novice or an experienced taster. Just bring your ID for tastings and an appetite for a full day of exploring.
A single day trip from Portland is enough for one of our guided tours, but if you have 2–3 days, you can pair a guided tour with a self-guided day and time to explore towns like McMinnville, Newberg, and Dundee at your own pace.
